Want to get involved?
As an organisation we have grown considerably over the last few years, and through new grants made available to us we have recently been able to employ over 30 staff members, more than doubling our current staff levels. Many of those employed are from the Mabopane community, as we believe in seeking employment from the ground roots level, which will also assist in the sustainability of our projects.
We want to grow and expand our organisation so we are able to provide the best possible service to the community, and know that in order to do this we need to expand our skill base. At Lesedi La Batho we believe that knowledge is power, and for this reason we would love to hear from professional volunteers (looking to volunteer for 6 months to a year) who are hardworking, light hearted and flexible. Volunteers who have a love for the community and are passionate about social change will be fully welcomed into our organisation and would become part of our ‘Lesedi family’. We feel passionate about volunteers and believe that this will be a mutually beneficial
We would greatly appreciate volunteers from the following professions / industries:
· Marketing and Fundraising – Priority Area
· Social Work
· Teaching
· IT Support / Computering
· Counselling
· Community Nursing / Health Visitors
· Business / Administration Management
· Legal Services
· Human Resources
· Sport Coaching
If you do not have a qualification in the above fields but you have vast experience, we would also like to hear from you. If interested, please forward your CV with a motivation letter explaining why you want to volunteer, what you expect to get from this experience and what you would like to achieve in the community. If we match your goals and see you are the right person for our organisation we can arrange a Skype conversation where you can find out more about us and see whether you would like to join our team. You would then have to explore options for where you would live during your stay in South Africa. As we are not a volunteer organisation this will be your responsibility to arrange, but you would be more than welcome to ask us for advice regarding areas to live and local costs. You may choose to seek residence in Mabopane itself where our community centre is, or you may want to be in Pretoria where our head office is based. You are likely to split your time between Mabopane and Pretoria (although this depends on what your role is) so we recommend you follow the option that suits you best.
